Jez is not only a coach, he is a mentor... He has invaluable knowledge gained from years of racing in the pro peloton which has helped me to read and understand races better.

Says: Jeremy Hunt is a very experienced and professional coach. He has a huge knowledge and understanding of you as an athlete because he himself has been through the same sensations and suffering. I know first hand at the gains I made under his guidance were incredible. I had a huge pb in my 5min power +100W and in a very important threshold increase which for me made all the difference to be able to come into the finish of my race and be that little bit fresher to use my strengths in the part of the race that matters most.

Jeremy Hunt Says: We started working together 5 years ago. I knew him from races in Asia and knew he had a good sprint. When I saw his numbers I realised he was really good. The thing was he was unable to produce these numbers consistently and was rarely fit enough to sprint at the end of a long or slightly harder stage.

With careful planning and consistent training and constant learning from our mistakes we have have been able to produce his best sprints when it matters. He now consistently produces power that would win him a World Tour sprint. He has the confidence to sprint against the best and knows with his Formfinder training he can win again and again.

Says: I have been working with Jeremy Hunt for two and a half years now. I work with a local Junior Cycling team and my original goal was to be able to help the junior girls in the women's races. I have far exceeded my own expectations. Working with Jez I have increased my FTP by over 20%. I have managed to get on the podium in races and have led out my junior girls to dozens of wins. This is not an easy task for a coach to do with me as I work full-time, coach part-time and am a single Mom. Jez has helped my drill down on my nutrition and lose weight. I definitely could not have done all of this without him.

Says: In 2016 I weighed in at over 164kg. My FTP was 200W. With a baby on the way I decided to turn things around. At first I adjusted my diet, cutting out beer and junk food, then once I'd lost some weight I began to ride more, using Formfinder's 12 hour per week program.

In 2019 I weighed in at 82kg, having lost half my body weight, and increased my FTP to 395W. I was able to win A grade races and completing my main goal of the 2019 Melbourne to Warrnambool race.

Weight: 54-58kg
FTP: 340W
Results: Neo Pro, watch this space
Says: I started working with Jez in July 2017 when I joined Terengganu Cycling team, where he is the team coach. Through Jez's coaching I made rapid improvements, such increasing my 5 minute power by 30 watts and my threshold w/kg by 0.5, all within a few months.

Having said that, Jez doesn't only focus on improving your maximum threshold power when fresh like many coaches do, but ensures you are physically prepared for all the varying physiological demands of your target event/s. A combination of a threshold increase, and continued focus on development of all facets of performance, meant I was able to achieve 5 UCI podiums, within 5 months. My improvement lead to me being recognized by Mitchelton Bike Exchange, where I have transferred to race for the rest of 2018.

Working with a coach as knowledgeable as Jez makes training much easier, as you have 100% faith in the direction of your training.

Oren Peleg

Oren Peleg

On his way to another CX podium

Athlete: Oren Peleg, United Kingdom
Age: 52
Weight: 70kg
FTP: 300-351W 20mins
Events: Cyclo-cross and Time Trials
Says: My biggest challenge is balancing family, work and a rigorous training and racing programme. I have been working with Jeremy for a year and a half and his approach is different to what I was used to: "feelings first and numbers second". He draws extensively on his experience as a pro and coach and it works. When he tells me to back off and I don't, I pay the price. When he tells me it's there and I don't feel it, it comes out. My power PBs were all set in my 40s, and I assumed age had taken its toll and they were never to be seen again. Jeremy helped me disprove that and not only did I find them again, I beat them in my 50s. What I also enjoy is the way we problem solve together; we build our plans together and Jeremy is keen for me to input and contribute. That makes for a better programme and one I buy into.

Specifically over short to medium efforts which has made a huge impact on my racing. Importantly, Jez has been great at adjusting the program to fit in with other commitments, as well as adjusting for times when I’m run down and need extra rest, resulting in almost 6 months of consistent training with limited sickness or injury.

Says: I began working with Jez in February 2018 with the target of reaching life-time best performances following a two-year hiatus from cycling. Since then, we have improved my sustained power output by over 10%, including pushing my maximal 5 minute power from 325w to 365w. Jez’s guidance has been invaluable in managing training around work and life’s other tasks. We have set some lofty performance goals for events later in the year, such as the Taiwan KOM Challenge, and I’m excited to continue my rapid progression.

Says: Jez is the first coach I’ve trusted in allowing to take complete control of my training. He’s removed the personal pressure involved with having to plan and analyse training, enabling me to fully focus on my training with a great deal of confidence.

Jez offers a balance of modern training methods and practices, combined with some more fundamental training philosophies, which keeps the training varied, yet challenging and highly effective. His extensive knowledge and experience complements what he prescribes, and he is always providing prompt feedback that is both relevant and informative. I’m continually making improvements in my power and performance each week, something I definitely haven’t noticed as much in the past, so I’m both excited and motivated to continue working together with Jez in to the future.

Ben Walkerden

Representing Australia at the CX Worlds

Athlete: Ben Walkerden
Age: U23
Weight: 60kg
FTP: 20min 315w-354w
Results: U23 Australian CX Champion
Says: In September 2017, I joined partnership with Jeremy and I became one of his athletes that he would be coaching targeting my main focus of Cyclocross racing. When I started, I was a rider that really lacked power and also knowing when to use my power correctly. In the time I have been with Jeremy I have rapidly increased my power that has also resulted in weight loss giving me a greater power to weight ratio. It has been a lot of hard work for both of us but with his great expertise and experience in racing and coaching we have been able to find a training program that has worked for me. It has been a completely different training structure from what I have been use to but the positives have been great. I am now a rider with a lot bigger power output, which is allowing me to be the strongest I have ever been. I am hoping I can use this power to my advantage on race days and really perform at the highest level I want to be.

Artur Maliszewski

Training now gives me energy instead of constantly tiring me out

Age: 48

Says: As a 47yo business owner working 60+ hrs per week and 3 teenage kids I have very limited for cycling training. I can fit in around 4 session per week, which allows me to keep fit and to be able to (on the very odd occasion) go out with friends on 80-100km rides on not feel smashed and embarrassed.

Due to the time constraints, most of my sessions are done on a Wahoo Kickr and I needed someone to structure a training program for me that would allow me to get the most out of every minute, yet at the same time keep improving and be flexible and understanding when work and life take priority.

Jeremy’s program and approach is extremely motivational. It is simple and very easy to follow. Over the past 6 months I am fitter, stronger than I have been on the bike for a very long time. My FTP has gone from the low to the high 200’s and I find myself not only hanging onto the bunch, but taking my fare share of turns on the front with riders doing 250+kms per week.

Says:
Why?
Amys Gran Fondo I got talked into trying to qualify for the UCI GFWC, without any preparation I missed by 15min.
I was a regular rider, never raced, had completed 3 Peaks and I realised the guys qualifying were fitter faster and most importantly experienced racers.
The day after AGF I search and found Jeremy, I jumped in and signed up with the goal of qualifying for the UCI GFWC.

Pleasure and Pain
Pleasure, Jeremy made it easy setting plans and goals that were just within reach, working around my desires to still enjoy my cycling with a few weekly coffee runs thrown in. I didn’t want to know the why’s of the workouts, I left that to Jeremy, but when curiosity got the better of me Jeremy provided simple clear explanations of the goal or purpose of the plan

Pain
Ergo’s, super effective but it will push you, but the real pain is your coffee bunch ride may end up seeming slow, mine was a tough challenge now my Garmin tells me “Little to no cardio benefit!"

Changes
Riding to a power meter proved very interesting, Actually training to a specific plan on an ergo was very new to me as was racing, I did a number of Crits and some road races.

The outcome
After 20 years of riding I know what FTP is, mine went from 240 to 320!
what really hit home in terms of improvement was I did a ride with Jeremy, over a piece of road I had only ridden once before, almost a year earlier, I was shocked when I reflected on Strava, I thought I was pretty strong a year ago, but 13:49 to 9:37, this is just one of many similar segments

Oh, yeah and I’m off to UCI GFWC in Italy
I couldn’t of done it without Jeremy, its been one of the best thing I have ever done and the results have far exceeded my expectations, thanks Jez
Would I recommend Jeremy? Absolutely! You do the work he sets you, you get results.

Luke Riley

Luke Riley

96kg to 74kg and 40W FTP increase
Athlete: Luke Riley
Age: -
Weight: 74kg
FTP: 342W
Results: -
Says:
Luke started cycling five years ago in country NSW and has recently moved to Melbourne. The 34-year-old has built up an impressive 342 watt FTP (4.6w/kg) and is continuing to progress. Luke trains six days a week and is like a dog with two tails with his energy and motivation.

I spent my first 3-4 years of cycling training with no structure or knowledge of how to train properly. Every training ride was usually at threshold or as hard as I could go, and weeks were very repetitive. My FTP got to 300 watts after 2-3 years of regular training and racing. After a while it felt like I had hit a bit of a ceiling with my performance and my progression seemed to hit a stalemate. I began losing the passion to train hard and ended up having 12 months off, just doing a bit here and there. During my year off my weight went from 85kgs to 96kgs.

I moved down to Melbourne last year and after a few months I started getting the cycling itch back, especially with all the criterium racing on offer every week. Being at rock bottom in terms of my form and weight, I thought I would start from scratch and give cycling another crack. I heard about Formfinder through a friend and decided to give it a go.

The Formfinder program has guided me through the basic fundamentals of proper training, regarding structure and training the zones - I had no idea how crucial it was. Trusting the program and being consistent is the real key for me.

Formfinder has helped me get out of that old school training mindset – I am now training a lot smarter and seeing consistent improvement through each block. I am currently 20 weeks in and I’m down to 74kgs & my FTP is 342 watts, which has completely exceeded my expectations.

I found my best improvement in the first 6-8 weeks of my program. I was doing a lot of strength endurance work, which gave me a solid base to work from and this also proved to be great for my weight loss.

My favourite thing about Formfinder is the flexibility, and being able to balance my work and family life into my training. I also really love the amount of data available, and the instant and daily feedback received.

I would highly recommend Formfinder to any rider who wants to get the best out of their training and performance.

I’m really looking forward to continuing to progress, and achieving some good results this race season for the Formfinder crew.

Says:
Jez has pushed me to another level in training and made me realise my potential to improve even in my 40s.

If you can’t do it in training then you won’t be able to produce the required effort when racing is at the core of Jez's results-based approach.

This philosophy has helped me to focus on improving my TT ability with a specific training plan tailored to achieving my goals in this specific discipline.

So far the results have been excellent, including a lifetime personal best for the 10 mile TT and a course record and win over the 50 mile distance.

In addition, I have benefited tremendously from Jez’s years of experience in the pro peloton, especially in terms of advice around how to get more aero on the bike.

Says:
I am a former junior nation inline speed skating champion. I stopped speed skating in 2000. I did some road biking in 2005-2006 but I wasn't very serious. I picked up road biking again in late 2017 for health and the camaraderie. I got involved with a local club and started to ride more regularly. It was typical for me to have 8-12 hrs a week of riding with a longer 70 mile ride on the weekends. When I started cycling in 2017 I weighed 235 lbs. After regular riding I dropped to 212 lbs but stayed at that weight for a little while. In October of 2019 I did an FTP test that put me around 300 watts but this was an estimated wattage.

Racing was not on my radar when I first started riding but after covid-19 started and some encouragement from local riders I started looking for a training plan or platform.

Go George you legend! With experience from my speed skating days I knew coaching knowledge and experience was crucial for me to fulfil how I hoped to perform and I knew true world-class coaching is not easy to come by and when you do find it, it's expensive. Results can only come with time put into training this makes training an act of faith, faith in yourself and faith in your coaching. I do not want to waste my time.

I looked at most of the popular training platforms but nothing seemed to meet my expectations. I came across Formfinder after watching some Youtube videos. I started with Formfinder in May of 2020. My first FTP test after starting was 296. After a month and half it went up to 318. I did my first cat 4/5 criterium in June of 2020 and got third place! By the end of the summer I was doing back to back races with the cat 4/5 going first and immediately followed that up with a category 3/4 race where I was taking top ten placements. I never took less than third place for the category 4/5 and won the series yellow jersey. These were races with fields of 20-40 riders.

After a winter break I started to train again at the beginning of December 2020 and had an FTP of 285. My most recent FTP test result was 335 (April 2021). My current best are 1470 Watts for 5 seconds, 1036 for 30 seconds, 751 for one minute, 421 for five minutes, 375 for 10 minutes and 352 for 20 minutes. These are all tests after starting with Formfinder in May last year. I currently weigh 203 lbs.

Age: 43
Weight: 95kg

Results: Power up across the board
Says:
Says: I started riding again after a 25-year break, in Mar 2017. I have been steadily increasing volume of training and intensity. In 2018 I rode 3,920km in total, in 2019 6,925km, and so far in 2020 (8 months) I have already clocked 9,000km.

In Dec 2019 I managed to qualify for the 2020 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Canada (unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19).

In Jan 2020 I decided to get more serious about my training and ended up being coached by Jez/Formfinder. The results of the training plans and advice are undeniable. A few numbers to illustrate my point; 5 min power went from 329W to 428W, 10 min power from 303W to 349W and 20 min from 296W to 341W.

I like the structured approach Formfinder provides as well as a good degree of flexibility and instant feedback. I intend to continue this collaboration.

Carl Panczak

Carl is flying! Solid performance mate
Athlete: Carl Panczak
Age: 47
Weight: 83kg
FTP: 350W
Results: Power up and recovering well
Says:
I've been a serious amateur cyclist since 2009 after buying my first nice bike (Cervélo Soloist) one winter inspired by the Tour de France. I got a training program from a sports physio after doing a VO2 max at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen. But after a few years of the same program I noticed that I was not getting any fitter, and I was also getting bored following a program which didn't adjust to my fitness level nor offer any variety.

I decided to try Formfinder after my friend recommended it, as he had found it really helpful in training for the Peaks Challenge over the years, as well as various crits and race meets.

I signed up in winter 2020 and decided to target a good time on the postponed Giro Della Donna in March 2021.

I've found the program really effective, fun and noticed not only an improvement in my endurance fitness and sprinting strength on the bike but I was recovering better, felt less fatigued and enjoyed my training a lot more. The platform seems to adjust well to your fitness and training, slowly increasing intensity as your fitness increases but also giving you recovery when needed. I've also found the feedback offered by Jeremy and his team using the chat function very motivating as he reviews your rides and gives you tips or encouragement.

I was really happy with my performance at the Giro Della Donna 2021, placing 33rd overall and achieving a PB up Mt Donna Buang as well as an overall PB on the course. I felt great all day and managed to pull ahead of our bunch on the final climb.

I can highly recommend the Formfinder platform to anyone wanting to step up their fitness and also inject more variety and balance into their weekly training program.

Says:
I started road racing at 15 and enjoyed various successes as a junior and under 23's and then walked from the sport completely. For the past 15 years I've been back really enjoying my riding and some racing but never really felt the need to commit to a coach or training program. I came across the Formfinder program after a big day out on the bike with Jez and decided to give it a crack even though I wasn't sure if it would translate well to MTB racing. After just 3 months on the program I ended up winning the final round of the Victorian State XC Series which finished with a 510 vertical meter climb – something I never thought achievable as I'm far from a good climber.

There's such a huge mental element to racing no matter what the discipline and showing up to the start line knowing you've put in the work does amazing things for your confidence. Like most people around my age, time is the biggest barrier so I want to make sure that I'm making every session count. The program is super easy to follow, especially with all the technology that's available like smart trainers and Zwift, and it allows enough flexibility to adjust and match to your lifestyle. And whilst the automated nature was quite appealing to me, I've been really impressed by Jez's personal feedback or tips when I've needed it, definitely helps with the motivation. After such a good showing of results at the start of the year, I'm really excited to see where a longer commitment to the Formfinder program can take me. I would highly recommend the Formfinder program to anyone no matter what their goals may be.
